Final conclusion on onion seedlings and garlic

#gardening

Saying goodbye to the Onion Seedlings

Thankfully, it’s just the seedling experiment that I am changing up. And I will report back about the onions occasionally as I am leaving them in pots outdoors starting today with the heavy slushy snow. As mentioned in my last post, onions are one of the top things I want to throw down in a wide area perhaps near carrots and let them go on to grow without much care through the summer.

My prediction in terms of what these onions will do is stay alive under the soil and come back when it warms up again and would probably produce a mediocre bulb. Onions and garlic are one of my favorite things to cold stratify because I want them sooner than later; these are more important than potatoes to me. Its just, in terms of putting out onion seedlings earlier, we just don’t know yet but are looking forward to seeing if these come back in any way shape or form.

Garlic Updates

There are now a confirmed 6 but I actually found one in the drain when I was getting them back together and it got damaged. I’m assuming its going to be harder to get good cloves as we go into the end of winter. But, these are basically ready to go into the ground, and are still definitely going to produce big bulbs by May.

Stay tuned for the next #gardening update
