December 20: Onion Seedlings were found when Raking
The seeds as described in my first post about the onions told a bit about the history of the seeds that actually did some bit of growing under cover; with dirt!
As also described in my previous post here I transplanted the onions into my potting mixes and then came up with a stratification method to sustain them inside the pots to at least call them healthy seedlings for spring sowing; considering plants are able to still produce great tasting and big sized results with more practice.
December 21: Full 24 hours have passed since transplants
My decision became easy to remember in terms of how to keep these seedlings good until spring. Warm and Dark at night, so in the bathroom by the heating vent, then up on the window sill with the window open during the day and close the window on top of the pots for security.
It’s been 24 hours so far, so they have been through this full cycle and I have applied a warm watering to them as well last night and will continue to use warm water to neutralize the stratification equation.
I don’t want to try and go past any limit in terms of saying, I want the biggest transplant from here in spring for example, instead, I am just trying to keep them as small as possible for now.
This is what the plants looked like on 12/21 during their daytime phase of the equation
